They are considered a small dog, usually weighing between 15 to 25 pounds and measuring between 13 to 16 inches in height. They are bright eyed and bushy tailed! They have a double layered coat that sheds seasonally, but is easy to brush.

Shiba dogs are sweet, lively and quite intelligent. They are energetic, agile and love to run. Shiba Inu's grow from the cute Japanese puppies described above to graceful, bold, proud looking adult dogs.
Adult Shiba dogs are often described as having a cat like quality in the way they move as well as a slightly superior attitude. That said, they are very affectionate with their families as well as loyal and protective. They make excellent watch dogs, despite their small, compact size.
